Messy Sparks
This post makes me squirm. But, I’m committed to being authentic in real-life and in real-time as I share myself and my work with the world. So, here goes…
I’m practicing something new this week: sharing my sparks before they’re perfect.
Perfectionist Patterns
As a recovering perfectionist, “shareable” has always meant polished, formatted, and ready for prime time.
In fact, I've spent the last several weeks building replicable, scalable systems for capturing sparks (unpolished ideas) and turning them into shareable pieces. I have lots of sparks. Most of them won't see the light of day. I'm too busy worrying if they're perfect. They languish safely within my inner vault, and organizing them feels productive and busy. Writing is messy. Putting myself out there is scary. But, honestly, anything less is holding back.
Letting It Out Anyway
So here we go — messy, unpolished, and alive. This is my commitment to sharing more and caring less. Whoo! ✨
(And yes, here’s a glimpse of the messy spot where this spark was born 💥).
I wrote this post sitting on the floor of my son’s school classroom watching his numbers while he participated in chess club. Laptop on my lap, leaning against the wall, hoping nothing crawls too close.
Your Turn!
Now, I’m curious: what messy little spark of delight could you let out this week — just as it is?
So, I’m doing this thing…wanna come?
