As much as I love Phoenix and all of its glorious desert beauty, there comes a time when the hot is simply too hot and it’s time to hit the road, even if for just a few days.

Have you been to the Grand Canyon? You would be surprised to hear many who live here in the Valley of the Sun say, “no” to that question, even though millions visit the Grand Canyon every year from around the world.

It’s hot, we’re not going to try and tell you differently. As you go about your day, that triple-digit heat makes you rethink why you’re so enamored with Arizona.

Thanks to Best Western Arroyo Roble Hotel in Uptown Sedona for a delightful two-day stay! As you know, an occasional perk to being a travel writer is the opportunity to indulge free of charge. This past week my family and I stayed at hotel for two days.

As a former meeting and event planner and a current travel writer, I have found local convention and visitor bureaus (CVBs) to be among the most accessible and useful resources for any given area.

Ice cold refreshments at Fogo de Chao, Trader Vic’s, getting sassy at the Salty Senorita are just a couple of ways to enjoy Phoenix this summer.

he Saguaro Cactus is more than an Arizona icon; it’s also the bearer of the delicious saguaro fruit. Tonto Bar & Grill in Cave Creek and Desert Foothills Land Trust have joined together to bring this desert delicacy to the table. It doesn’t get any more local than this.

The AZ Adventurer wants to know… what is your favorite Valley restaurant? I will start and you fill in the blanks with comments. Can’t wait to hear about great new eateries in the area.

Celebrate the 4th of July despite the heat with these five way cool events!

With temperatures in the Valley climbing it’s a perfect time to explore the diversity that Arizona has to offer. Phoenicians head north in droves to escape the heat and enjoy some mountain fun. Here are just a few options to consider:

Father’s play an important part in our lives and deserve a day of recognition. Here are some ideas for celebrating this special day.

Earlier in May, I had the pleasure of attending the bi-annual Scottsdale Sunsational FAM Tour. Held every May, it’s a great opportunity for out of state meeting planners interested in scheduling events in Scottsdale to visit the city and see its many charms firsthand.

I’m always looking to try new places and do new things. But, even as I long to try the new, I can’t help but be called back to my old favorites.

The desert is in bloom. And while the mercury is already creeping its way up toward the hundred-degree mark, we still have some time before the weather is simply too hot to handle.

I don’t know about you, but I hate doing administrative work. As a small business owner and virtually a one-woman shop, it’s up to me to order office supplies, send out invoices, pay bills, write and send sales proposals and nurture new and prospective business opportunities. Sometimes I don’t mind doing these things (I like [...]

Next week, I’ll be exploring Arizona as part of the Travel Classic press trip through Flagstaff and Sedona. I’m participating in the Sedona portion of the trip and will be staying at the Enchantment Resort, hiking the trails, perusing the art galleries, and visiting some of the Verde Valley’s wine country. I’m looking forward to [...]

What’s your game plan? Marketing books are consistently on my reading list. The latest, The Marketing Playbook, by two of Microsoft’s marketing gurus John Zagula and Richard Tong has me riveted and considering my own marketing efforts as well as those of my clients in an entirely different light. The book claims there are only [...]
I’ve been writing for a couple of decades now and until the last year I always saw writing as a solitary experience. And while that is the case – in the end writing is always the lone writer finally putting the words on the paper and polishing them to a high sheen – writing doesn’t [...]

I have some great news I’d like to share. After a lot of hard work, the iPhone travel application I’ve been working on is finally done and ready for purchase on iTunes: Sedona’s Scenic Red Rocks” for $1.99. Thanks to everyone who provided help, offered words of encouragement and put up with my numerous posts [...]

Her first book, BACKROADS & BYWAYS OF ARIZONA, published by Countryman Press, was released at the end of 2009. To learn how you can turn obstacles [...]

We’ve been telling stories as a society before we could read and write. The petroglyphs scattered across the Southwest are only one set of reminders of our strong desire to share our experiences. Whether it’s a shared anecdote between strangers, a familiar family tale repeated at the dinner table or a good book passed on [...]

Here are three books that will change your outlook on how you live and work. Whether you’re an employee at a small non-profit or a wannabe business owner, these three books will help you step outside the proverbial cubicle and make your life your own. Each book asks you to answer challenging questions about who [...]

One of the things I ask any new client is, Who is your perfect customer? The response is often, the paying kind. They’re right, to some extent, a paying customer is a pretty darn good one; however, it doesn’t make them perfect. The perfect customer is one who loves you, your business, your products and [...]
